Bamboo Bedding
Selecting Bamboo Bedding
If you want to revamp your room with an ambience closer to nature, try going green and shift from using plain, old linens to bamboo bedding. As there had been some research for finding alternatives to traditional beddings made from animal products, plant fibers have been explored and were successfully made for bedding purposes. Included in this exploration are the fibers from bamboo.
The pulp of bamboo grass is what bamboo bedding is made from. Because of its many similar attributes to cotton and other forms of textile fibers, there is now a growing universal demand for bamboo fabric. Mostly interested are people from Western countries like the USA and Canada. Strong and durable bamboo fabric is produced when bamboo grass is heavily pulped until threads of fiber are apparent. It is lightweight and is designed to have optimum levels of wicking properties.

Bamboo fibers are more like cotton in form and weight, but are not as white. However, most companies that manufacture bamboo bedding use extra strong bleaching methods to reach the same level of whiteness as cotton. But there are also companies that keep the unbleached color of bamboo, as there are customers who prefer having the natural color of bamboo. If you also prefer having your beddings all-natural and bleach-free, then the latter will do.
Benefits Of Bamboo Bedding
Since bamboo bedding is made from natural bamboo fibers, they support antibacterial linens, sheets and pillow cases; being hypo-allergenic to users prone to allergies. Even when washed several times, their antibacterial components remain intact. This unique attribute of bamboo fabric reduces bacteria that live mainly on clothing and draperies. Bamboo fabric is also effective in eliminating odor-causing bacteria, thus keeping clothes fresh and clean-smelling for longer periods.
Due to the fact that bamboo fabric can be seen mostly in Asian countries, exporting is required for the product to reach the West. This is the reason why bamboo bedding is considered more luxurious compared with other textile fibers. During its inauguration to Western countries, marketing bamboo bedding was initially difficult and failed to reach the top of the market. But because of the quality and versatility of bamboo fibers, bamboo bedding is now increasingly becoming the latest craze of every home owners, interior designers, and hotel and condominium marketers across the globe.
Bamboo bedding has different categories and prices vary according to the purity of each. There is bamboo bedding that has a mix of cotton. They are not as perfectly soft and smooth as pure bamboo beddings, but they are much better than cotton sheets. Bamboo-cotton is low-costing, as compared to 100% pure bamboo bedding. Target markets of semi bamboo-cotton beddings are those that are not yet introduced to pure bamboo bedding and are still in exploration of bamboo fiber’s exquisite nature.
Only a few of bamboo bedding is categorized as inexpensive. Some types cannot be discounted in most retail stores, but the price you are willing to pay for sweet slumber cannot be provided by any other fabric.
